Community Bank donates $2,500 to Vermont Foodbank

December 13, 2017

Vermont Business Magazine

Community Bank NA recently presented [VRGA member] Vermont Foodbank with a $2,500 donation to help restock their partner food shelves after the heavy rain and windstorm in late October.

With each $3 buying five meals for a family, the donation will provide more than 4,100 meals to local families in need. A member of Feeding America, Vermont Foodbank is the state’s largest anti-hunger organization. Started in 1986, Vermont Foodbank provides charitable food to more than 153,000 Vermonters each year and works with over 215 network and agency partners to provide nutritious food in each county in the state.

“After hearing that Vermonters were struggling with the loss of food from extended power outages, our New England branch network knew it was time step in and help,” Community Bank N.A. Regional Manager Anita Bourgeois said. “Supporting our neighbors in time of crisis is a fundamental part of our values at Community Bank N.A.”

“On behalf of our neighbors who struggle with hunger, we are truly grateful to Community Bank N. A. for their generosity,” Vermont Foodbank CEO John Sayles said. “For many Vermonters, it only takes one unexpected event to push an already stretched budget beyond its capacity. This can be the loss of a job, a car breaking down, or a storm that knocks out power, resulting in the loss of a fridge worth of groceries. It’s only with the support of engaged organizations like Community Bank N. A. that we can create a resilient community where all can thrive.”
