Commodities Natural Market

Family owned and operated Commodities Natural Market opened at 512 Mountain Road in Stowe on January 30, 2015. The store features fresh produce that’s predominantly organic or local, carefully-selected groceries, gourmet and specialty foods, local cheeses and other dairy products, freshly-baked breads, a gigantic selection of bulk items, grab and go items, natural health and beauty aids, hand-selected wines, phenomenal craft beer & cider. The store has been voted “Best Market” in the Stowe Reporter for years. Owners Audra & Michael Hughes also received the “Entrepreneurs of the Year” award in 2016. The store has also been a finalist in the Seven Days Daisies Awards “Best Market (Outside Chittenden County)” in 2015, 2016 & 2017. Lastly, the store was awarded the distinction of being a State of Vermont Green Grocer.

Commodities Natural Market opened in Winooski VT in December 2016. The store was the only grocery store in Downtown Winooski on beautiful Winooski Falls Way. The store closed in April 2023 so the owners could focus on the build out of a new and significantly-larger store in Stowe, just down the road from the existing location. Construction began in June 2023.

Michael opened the original Commodities Natural Market in the East Village neighborhood in New York City in 1993. For 25 years, it was one of the highest-rated independently-owned natural food stores in the New York area, according to Zagat Survey, New York Magazine, The Village Voice and The New York Times.
