#MaskForTheWin Campaign

#MaskForTheWin Campaign

As businesses reopen statewide, we launched a #maskforthewin social media challenge to inspire Vermonters to wear a mask while in stores. Those who took a selfie in front of a retail or grocery store and post the picture with the #maskforthewin were entered into a weekly prize giveaway. Vermonters could complete every week and post as often as you would like with #maskforthewin.

“We want to motivate Vermonters to wear masks when inside businesses for the safety of themselves, store customers and store employees,” said VRGA president Erin Sigrist. “VRGA knows most Vermonters are wearing masks while they are out shopping, but we want to encourage everyone to do so, make it fun, and bring our Vermont communities together.”

The Fire Department will be receiving a VSFA Prize Basket filled with delicious treats from Sugar Bob’s Finest Kind, Krin’s Bakery, True North Granola, and Winhall Market. A Slice of Vermont, an online platform for purchasing from Vermont brands, has thrown in a $30 gift card good for any items at asliceofvermont.com as well.

Conclusion

VRGA saw a great response to the challenge. Businesses, public servants, and individuals from all over the state masked up and supported their local shops. From grocers and convenience stores to pet feed/supply. ATV dealers, food trucks, State and local Police, fire departments and everything in between, Vermonters showed off their support for their favorite spots.

As the #maskforthewin challenge draws to a close, VRGA wants to remind everyone that you should still be wearing masks when shopping to protect yourself and others. Follow all guidance from retailers when in their stores (social distancing, one way aisles) and keep in mind that we’re all in this together. If everyone follows the rules, Vermont can continue to reopen and win the fight against COVID-19.
